Jute Stick Straw
Namaste! I'm Alok Biswas(25 years old) from a small village(Harishnagar) of Nadia district, West Bengal, India. I'm a farmer and I am the founder of Jute Stick Straw manufacturing company.
- How i got this idea?
I got this idea after watching a video and the video clip was all about how they turns Coconut leaf into straw and I inspired, then on the verry next day i started working on production process of Jute straws and after few weeks i had started send samples to all over india. (And after a month during online researches i came to know that first, Tarun Saran got this innovative idea.)
As per my experiences it can be use as drinking straws. In our childhood we used to drink Date juice, Lemon juice and Coconut water with the help of unwashed Jute stick, even sometimes in nowdays.
Our family has been cultivating "Jute" More than 50 years and from my childhood I'm connected with Jute cultivation and i have more than seven years experience on that.
The cultivation of jute in India is mainly confined to the eastern region of the country. The jute crop is grown in nearly 83 districts of seven states - West Bengal, West Bengal alone produce over 50% raw jute.
From the last few years I have noticed, dry Jute Sticks(Patkathi/পাটকাঠি) are wasting. After separating fiber from the Just sticks only 20% use for agricultural purpose and 80% Jute sticks had been using for cooking purpose in our rurar arias. But from the last few years LPG took the role almost 50% and now only 30% use for cooking parpose.
Because of that my heart go for reduce the percentage of wastage and use them as substitute of plastic straws.
Therefore i have planned to build up my own company by manufacturing Eco-friendly Jute Straw.
So, since then i have been working on the Jute Straw's production process and now it's all set up to send our product all over the nation.
- How we process our product?
Firstly, the hollow stems of jute are collected, which are washed and then cut into perfect shape and size, next we clean inside of the hollow stem then they go through the Hygienic process and next for the packaging process. After that finally Jute Straws are ready to go in the market.
